About the book "In high-tech camps. How do minorities live in China?"

In his book *In High-Tech Camps*, Darren Byler talks about the systematic persecution of Uyghurs and other national minorities in China, which has been ongoing since 2017. Over one and a half million people were detained in internment camps and forced to work in factories connected to these camps. This system of state control is based on modern technologies, such as facial and voice recognition and data monitoring from smartphones, which are used to track and control the population.

The author shows that the technological infrastructure created with the participation of private companies has allowed the authorities to "blacklist" millions of people because of their religious practices or cultural characteristics. The book highlights how these new forms of digital surveillance have given rise to a system that penetrates deeply into the lives of national minorities, depriving them of basic rights and freedoms.

What is good about the book "In High Technology Camps":
- Documentary testimony: The book is written on the basis of the testimony of surviving prisoners and camp workers, as well as government documents and in-depth research by the author.
- Reveals the scope of the surveillance system: The author shows how technologies designed for comfort are used as tools of mass control.
- In-depth analysis: The book provides a unique perspective on modern forms of violence and colonization associated with the development of technology.
