This issue of Slanted is not about war. Instead, it tells the story of outstanding Ukrainian designers and creatives who, despite everything, continue to work, create, and sustain life. The publication explores the inextricable link between culture and design, asking the question: how to preserve art in times of instability?

How was the release created?

📍 September 2023, NEED conference in Warsaw—it was here that the Ukrainian delegation inspired Slanted to create this issue, declaring: "better now than never!"
📍 The invaluable help of Ukrainian designers and artists—without their courage and involvement, the magazine simply would not have happened.
📍 Slanted's editorial principle is not to create issues about countries or cities without a physical presence. But this time, live connections and emotions became crucial.

What's inside?

✅ 1,500 submitted works—the selection was difficult, and the decisions are always subjective.
✅ 20 interviews with Ukrainian designers in Ukraine and abroad.
✅ Thoughts, stories, art—testimonies of time.
✅ Many of the works presented reflect the reality of war, but at the same time they bring hope.
