Once upon a time...

in the land where the waves of the estuary whispered the stories of ancient civilizations, there was a city known as Thira. Founded by brave natives of the Greek Miletus around 600 BC, it stood proudly 10 kilometers from the mouth of the Tiras River, known today as the Dniester.

Empires rose and fell, but Thira remained a steadfast beacon of civilization. Its walls bore the scars of time, every stone was a silent witness of the triumphs and misfortunes of its inhabitants.

During its many centuries of existence, this city has absorbed a large number of identities. Known as Alba-Iulia, Turis, Belhorod, Levkopol, Moncastro, Chetatia-Alba, Akkerman, residents from distant lands sought shelter and protection behind the strong walls of Thira.

And although the names and inhabitants of this city were constantly changing, its spirit remained unchanged, a silent guardian of ancient stories....

About Tyra

Tyra is a space where nonfiction becomes a tool for change. Reading means breaking stereotypes, researching facts and opening new horizons.

The store was founded in 2024 during the war, when I realized the importance of giving people access to knowledge and real stories. We started with a selection of Ukrainian publications to broaden your worldview and give you the opportunity to learn more about the complex topics that surround us.

We dreamed of creating a place where everyone could learn to think critically through the stories behind the facts.

About choice

Tyra strives to have the largest selection of non-fiction in Ukraine. In our assortment you will find only those books that we ourselves read and consider important. The main focus is nonfiction, but you'll also find design, business, fiction, and children's books.

If you have a book or project you'd like us to consider, don't hesitate to contact us!

Our goal is to create our own publishing house.

About readers

Tyra readers are Ukrainians. They will never say about themselves: "We are small people, we don't know everything." Ukrainians are not those who are out of politics. They are well versed in conflicts, geopolitics and history, as our lives depend on these issues. Tyra is a store made just for them.

About the location

We opened Tyra in 2024 as an online store. We don't have a physical store yet, but it's coming soon. The first bookstore will be in the city of Irpin. We believe that people in small towns should also have access to quality bookstores. We could become one of the many bookstores in Kyiv, but that would be unfair, because there are very few of them in small towns.
