Ivan Bagryany (Lozovyaga) dreamed of creating an epic about Ukrainian youth during the Second World War, but managed to write only the first and last parts - the novels "Marusya Bohuslavka" and "Fire Circle". A tragic death prevented Genius from completing his plan, so we will never know what other great works could have seen the light of day.
The novel "Marusya Bohuslavka" unfolds the dark pre-war Soviet reality, in particular the tragic fate of Ukrainian youth during the communist regime, where they had to obey or hide their true nature in order to survive. The novel "Ring of Fire" recreates the tragic history of the divided Ukrainian people, their confrontation with the German and Soviet occupiers. The basis of the work is the history of the Ukrainian SS division "Halychyna", which in the summer of 1944 the Germans sent to battle near Brody, leaving them in a difficult situation. This novel is a mixture of pain and despair, self-sacrifice and courage, hopes and losses, defiance and willingness to fight.
