This is the first Ukrainian edition of one of Shakespeare's most significant works in the third millennium. The play tells the story of the legendary King Lear, who at the end of his life decides to divide his kingdom between his three daughters. To determine the size of the particles, he asks each of them to express their love for him. The two older daughters flatter their father, while the youngest, Cordelia, refuses to use words to express her feelings, claiming that her love is greater than words. An angry Lear banishes Cordelia and the Earl of Kent, who tried to intercede for her. The kingdom is divided between the eldest daughters, but Lear quickly realizes the terrible hypocrisy of his new "daughters", although his epiphany is too late.

This edition was prepared by two outstanding modern Ukrainian cultural figures - writer Yurii Andruhovych and illustrator Vladyslav Yerko. Their interpretation of "King Lear" offers a new perspective on a work of genius, allowing readers to acutely feel its eternal relevance.
