This is a touching story about friendship and the extraordinary challenges faced by two boys during the difficult times of World War II.

Nine-year-old Bruno is forced to move with his family to a new house near the concentration camp, where his father is appointed commandant. In a new place, he meets Shmul, a Jewish boy who is in a camp. Unexpectedly, a true friendship is born between the boys, but barbed wire separates them.
