Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 BC) was an outstanding Roman orator, philosopher, and politician. His scientific and creative heritage is diverse: speeches, works on oratory, moral and philosophical treatises, letters. In the treatises "Tusculan Conversations" and "On Duties" Cicero highlights the problems of the source and nature of human happiness. The author concludes that only the "wise" can be happy, so "there is no sage who is unhappy."

Moral-philosophical, ethical maxims and life advice of Cicero remain relevant for many centuries, they forever leave their mark in the eternal memory. In Ukraine, these works of the Roman writer are printed in a separate edition for the first time.
