Volodymyr Vynnychenko— Ukrainian writer, playwright, politician and the first prime minister of the Ukrainian People's Republic. He was born on July 26, 1880 in Yelysavetgrad (now Kropyvnytskyi). Vynnychenko was one of the leading figures of the Ukrainian national movement at the beginning of the 20th century, as well as the author of numerous prose works and dramas that revealed the social, political, and moral and ethical problems of that time.
His literary works, such as "Fedko the Halamidnyk", "Moment", "Notes of the Curly Mephistopheles" and others, are marked by deep psychologism, criticism of social order and often have autobiographical elements. Vynnychenko also wrote plays that were very successful on the Ukrainian stage.
After the defeat of the Ukrainian People's Republic in the struggle for independence, Vynnychenko emigrated and lived mainly in France, where he continued his literary activity and wrote diaries in which he reflected his own political views and experiences.
