Stanislav Vincenz

Stanislav Vincenz — a Polish writer, essayist and translator, known for his works on the culture and history of the Hutsul Region. He was born in 1888 in the village of Sloboda Rungurska, on the territory of modern Ukraine. Vincenz was interested in Carpathian culture all his life, especially Hutsul traditions, folklore and spirituality. His most famous work is the epic "On the high meadow" (Na wóchny połoninie), which consists of several parts and describes in detail the life and worldview of the Hutsuls.

Vincenz was considered one of the most important representatives of the intellectual life of interwar Poland, his works focus on the philosophical and historical aspects of the life of the Carpathian inhabitants, the preservation of cultural heritage and spiritual values.
