Michael Bond

Michael Bond (1926–2017) was a famous British writer who gained worldwide fame as the creator of one of the most beloved children's literary characters, Paddington Bear. His works, full of warmth, humor, and sincerity, have become classics of children's literature and have won the love of readers of many generations.

Michael Bond was born in Newbury, England, and showed an early interest in writing. His first teddy bear book, A Bear Called Paddington (1958), was inspired by a stuffed toy he had given his wife for Christmas. The story of a clumsy but very friendly bear from Peru who comes to London was the beginning of a long series of books.

In addition to the Paddington stories, Bond has written a series of books for adults, including the Mr. Fitzwibble detective series, as well as numerous television scripts. His works have been translated into dozens of languages ​​and adapted for television and film.
