Magdalena Droste

Magdalena Droste, born in 1948 in Eschweiler (Germany), is an internationally recognized Bauhaus scholar. Her academic career includes studies in art history and literature in Aachen and Marburg.

Since 1980, Droste has worked at the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin, where she has made significant contributions to preserving and promoting the legacy of this legendary school of design and architecture. Her in-depth knowledge of the Bauhaus has enabled her to become one of the leading authorities on the subject.

For 20 years (1997 to 2018), Droste was a professor of art history at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus. Her research interests focused on the work of the Bauhaus artists, in particular on the work of the textile workshop and the role of women in arts and crafts.
