Lina Kostenk — an outstanding Ukrainian poetess, novelist and public figure, one of the most outstanding figures of Ukrainian literature of the second half of the 20th century. She was born on March 19, 1930 in Rzhishchev. Kostenko is known as the leader of the "sixties" — a generation of Ukrainian intellectuals who fought for the preservation of Ukrainian culture and language in Soviet times.
Her poetry is distinguished by deep lyricism, philosophical reflections on life, human values and patriotism. Lina Kostenko's most famous poetry collections are "On the Banks of the Eternal River", "Madonna's Crossroads", "Garden of Indelible Sculptures", as well as her novel in verse "Marusya Churai", which became a classic of Ukrainian literature. In addition to poetry, Lina Kostenko wrote several prose works, including the novel "Notes of a Ukrainian Self-made Man".
