Leonhard Emmerling

Leonid Emmerling іs a prominent figure in the world of art history, whose career spans academia, curatorial work, and international cultural exchange. His experience and expertise make him one of the most influential figures in the field of contemporary art.

After receiving his doctorate, Emmerling began his professional career as a curator in several German museums. At the same time, he taught at leading art schools in Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf and Auckland, passing on his knowledge and experience to younger generations of artists.

One of the most important milestones in his career was his appointment as Director of ST PAUL St Gallery in Auckland, New Zealand. There he demonstrated his curatorial skills by organizing the New Zealand Pavilion at the 2009 Venice Biennale. This experience confirmed his high professionalism and international recognition.

Emmerling later took up the position of Head of the Visual Arts Department at the Goethe-Institut headquarters in Munich, where he promoted cultural ties between Germany and other countries.
