Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863) - American writer and poet, best known as the author of the famous Christmas poem"A Visit from St. Nicholas", also known as"The Night Before Christmas" -"INfestive evening". This work influenced the modern image of Santa Claus, and many details that we associate with Christmas and Santa today, including his visit on a sleigh drawn by reindeer, originate from this poem.
Moore was a respected professor of Oriental languages and theology, but he is best remembered for this Christmas poem, which was first published anonymously in 1823 and later became a classic. His influence on popular culture and the traditions of celebrating Christmas remain visible to this day.
