Khaled Hosseini is an American writer of Afghan origin, a best-selling author, known for his novels that explore life in Afghanistan and the fate of people amid social and political changes. He was born in Kabul in 1965, and later emigrated to the United States with his family due to the unstable political situation in the country. His debut novel The Kite Catcher became an international bestseller, poignantly telling a story of friendship, betrayal and redemption in the context of the Afghan events.
