Carmen Maria Machado is an American writer, essayist, critic, and teacher who skillfully explores themes of gender, sexuality, and the limits of reality in her work. Her articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in leading publications such as The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Tin House, Los Angeles Review of Books and others.
Her debut collection of whimsical stories "Her body and other aspects" was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction and won the National Book Critics Circle Award. Machado is also the author of well-known books such as Especially Heinous: 272 Views of Law & Order SVU, In the Dream House, as well as a number of other works that have been awarded and repeatedly included in anthologies.
