Hryhoriy Kvitka-Osnovyanenko (1778–1843)- Ukrainian writer, playwright and cultural figure, founder of the genre of Ukrainian prose. He was born into a noble family in the Kharkiv region, where he was interested in cultural and spiritual life from a young age. He made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian literature, writing works that raised questions of morality, social justice and national identity. His most famous works are "Marusya", "Serdeshna Oksana", "Konotopska Witch" and "Shelmenko-denshchik". His work is an important part of the Ukrainian literary heritage, which formed the national consciousness.
