He has extensive military experience, particularly during the Iraq War, where his tactical approach was recognized. McMaster is also known for his criticism of modern military strategy and politics. His book "Dereliction of Duty" analyzes leadership mistakes during the Vietnam War, and "Battlegrounds" ("Battlegrounds. The fight to protect the free world") is devoted to modern challenges of global security.
