John Dunmore- New Zealand historian, writer and translator, known for his research on the history of the Pacific region. Born in France in 1923, but spent most of his life in New Zealand. Dunmore specializes in the history of maritime exploration, particularly European voyages and discoveries in the Pacific Ocean. He has published numerous works on early explorers of the region, including Jean-Francois de Laperouse and Jules Dumont-Durville. His works contributed to a better understanding of the colonial history of Oceania.
