About the publishing house
Osnovy Publishing House is one of the first independent publishing houses in Ukraine, founded in 1992 by Solomiya Pavlychko and Bohdan Kravchenko. It specializes in publishing original publications in the Ukrainian language, as well as translations of classical works of art and science. The Osnovy catalog includes over 300 titles, and the publishing house has sold over two million books since its inception.
Assortment of publications:
- Ukrainian classics: For example, Valerian Pidmohylny's novel "The City" with illustrations by Maksym Pavlyuk, published in 2017.
- Art Photobooks: A series of publications that represent Ukrainian culture to a global readership, including "Ukrainian Erotic Photography", "Decommunized: Ukrainian Soviet Mosaics", "Soviet Modernism. Brutalism. Post-Modernism. Buildings and Structures in Ukraine 1955-1991" and "Balcony Chic"
- Translated literature: Translations of classical and modern scholarly works, such as "Europe. A History" by Norman Davies, as well as textbooks on economics, history, and philosophy.
- Children's literature: Publications for children that combine high-quality content with artistic design, for example, the illustrated "Alphabet" with works from the collection of the Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum.
