The book "Sign. Ukrainian trademarks of the 1960s-1980s" is a study created by the U,N,A team (Ulyana Bychenkova, Nika Kudinov, Alyon Solomadin) and is dedicated to the history of Ukrainian graphic design, in particular the field of corporate identity, during the thaw period , stagnation and restructuring.

There are two narratives in the book - visual and textual, which illuminate the chosen topic in a broader chronological perspective: from the avant-garde of the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. Special emphasis is placed on the Kharkiv school of industrial graphics and the work of Volodymyr Pobyedin. The book showcases archival materials, names and describes processes and influences in Ukrainian graphic design, in local and global contexts.

The authors emphasize that the 1960s-1980s were key for Ukrainian graphic design, but this period was often forgotten. They hope to fill the gaps in the history of the development of the local graphic form in the field of trademark, adding value to the coordinate system of the activity of a modern designer.

It is difficult to study the history of trademarks in Ukraine due to their material vulnerability and undervaluation. Many signs disappeared along with Soviet enterprises, only some of them can be found in everyday life, at flea markets or in technology museums. The archives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, which was responsible for the registration of all created trademarks, were also damaged after the collapse of the USSR.
