Tracing the stories of people during Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022-2023 is the subject of Sasha Maslov's popular science photo book. The publication documents the new understanding of holiness and self-sacrifice that changed during the 10 years of the conflict.

The photo book contains more than 100 pictures and stories of people who serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, volunteer and work daily to protect the state. Many of the heroes and heroines of these stories died or are considered missing, so the photobook fulfills a symbolic role - it honors the lost and saved life.

The Canadian-Ukrainian company Saint Javelin took part in the creation of the book.

"This book is about the personal sacrifice of people who decided to resist the cruel and barbaric invasion that is taking place in Europe in the 21st century in front of the whole world," according to Sasha Maslova.

" Saint Javelin was known for memes and jokes, but we wanted to create a more serious, documentary project to tell the stories of the people who protect Ukraine. When Sasha Maslov approached us with his concept for a photobook, we immediately understood that it was an exceptional idea, and without hesitation said yes ," - Christian Borys, founder of Saint Javelin.

Thirty percent of the net profit from the sale of the book on the Saint Javelin website will be directed to the purchase of tactical medical equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the initiative of the World Congress of Ukrainians "Unite with Ukraine".

Sasha Maslov is a Ukrainian photographer who collaborates with The New York Times, New York Magazine, Wall Street Journal Magazine, and the famous author of such photo books as "Ukrainian Railroad Ladies" (2020, Basics), "Veterans: Faces of World War II" (2017, Princeton Architectural Press) and "Portrait Assignment" (self-published).
