Russian Colonialism 101 (ENGLISH EDITION) | Maksym Eristavi

For many years, Ukrainian journalist Maksym Eristavi has been actively promoting the discussion of the crimes of Russian colonialism in the public space. A few days before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the author started a thread on his Twitter account, in which he described the cases of Russian colonial invasions during the last hundred years and the identical formulas according to which they took place. This post went viral and was called "the mother of all threads about Russian colonialism."

Together with a group of Ukrainian artists, Eristavi created an illustrated pocket guide about 48 recent invasions of Russian colonialism, with the aim of popularizing this knowledge for the world public.

The publication was prepared with the support of the NGO "Museum of Modern Art" and the Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund in cooperation with the Sigrid Rausing Trust. Part of the illustrations created as part of the illustration workshop for the book "Russian Colonialism" was transferred to the collection of the Ukrainian Museum of Contemporary Art (UMCA).
