Deeply researches the history of the development of cybernetics in Ukraine from the 1940s to 1991. You will find a large number of rare archival photographs illustrating the first stage of the development of computer technologies in Ukraine, as well as exclusive interviews with prominent Ukrainian pioneers of this field.

The first part of the book tells about the conditions in which outstanding engineers and scientists who started the computer era in Ukraine worked, how the industry developed "iron curtain". The story is based on dozens of interviews with people who knew the innovators personally. Among them are colleagues, relatives and students of cybernetics pioneers Viktor Glushkov and Serhii Lebedev.

The second part collects stories about eight Ukrainian product companies based on interviews with their leaders: Ajax Systems, MacPaw, Grammarly, Petcube, Readdle, Jooble, Reface and Depositphotos.

The book demonstrates the significant contribution of Ukrainian engineers and scientists to the global development of technologies, which were forced to create inside the box of the Soviet system.

"Innovation in Isolation" is a social and cultural project of the MacPaw company. All profits from the sale of the book will be directed to MacPaw Foundation , a corporate charitable foundation that has been helping to preserve the lives of Ukrainian defenders since the start of the full-scale invasion and providing assistance to Ukrainians who have suffered the consequences of Russian aggression.
