The report book "You ate like a stone" tells about the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992–1995. Wojciech Tochman describes the post-war period when a group of scientists, led by Dr. Eva, searches for mass graves of Muslims killed during "ethnic cleansing." Relatives of the victims turn to the expedition with the hope of finding the remains of their loved ones and relive their tragedies over and over again.
Reportage as a genre reflects only the facts, without metaphorical statements or loud words, acknowledging only what was witnessed. Therefore, only the voices of eyewitnesses were heard in Tokhman. Reading the book is scary and disturbing, each chapter conveys a sense of horror, the fear of stepping on a minefield, stepping over bodies and bones that Dr. Eva has not yet recognized.
