MARIA PRIMACHENKO: GLORY TO UKRAINE

This book is a unique publication that presents over 100 original works by Maria Prymachenko from the collections of the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art (Kyiv) and the Ponomarchuk family collection (Kyiv). The publication is complemented by the artist's personal belongings: an apron, an embroidered shirt, panels she embroidered, and even the scissors she used to work, provided by the Prymachenko Family Foundation.

Contents and authors
The publication includes a foreword by Peter Doroshenko and an introductory article by Oksana Semenyk. The latter deeply analyzes Maria Prymachenko’s multifaceted work — from mythology and folklore to her unique universe, from an ironic attitude towards the Soviet system to an understanding of the Chernobyl disaster, and also explores her works in ceramics and little-known embroidered canvases.

In addition, the artist's great-granddaughter, Anastasia Prymachenko, in a conversation with Peter Doroshenko (director of the Ukrainian Museum in New York and curator of the exhibition of the same name), talks about Maria's unique world, her influence on the family and the broader artistic context in Ukraine, as well as on the modern world (exhibitions in Luxembourg, Dresden, participation in the 2022 Venice Biennale, exhibitions at the Saatchi Gallery in London and the Swiss Open Art Museum, etc.). She shares the habits and everyday life of her great-grandmother.
