This book is a journey into the life and work of Oleksandra Ekster, a Ukrainian avant-garde artist and designer.

The publication is dedicated to the artist's complex, vivid, and at the same time very human journey. This is the first book in the "History of Ukrainian Artists" series, which reveals the figures of Ukrainian art in a new way.

Our goal is to show Exter not only as a brilliant artist, but also as a living person with doubts, inner searches, and difficult choices. She was brilliant, but not unattainable. And that is her special strength.

Alexandra Exter lived in the whirlwind of the first half of the 20th century: revolutions, wars, emigration, separation from her native Kyiv. This experience — painful and familiar to many of us today — opens a new perspective for understanding her art. Despite all the circumstances, she did not lose her creative fire until her last days.

This is not just a biography — it is an emotional and dramatic story that will help you see the depth of Ukrainian contribution to world art.

The book was created in collaboration with Projector Publishing, Projector Foundation, and the CHANGES Foundation.

The author is Anna Lodygina, journalist, researcher, author of the Back to the Roots project, and the first book in the "History of Ukrainian Artists" series, dedicated to Alexandra Exter.
