Semen Shyrochin

​Semen Shyrochyn (born December 16, 1988 in Kyiv) is a Ukrainian local historian, candidate of technical sciences, photographer, musician, and researcher of the architecture of Kyiv during the Soviet period. He is the author of a number of thorough works devoted to the formation of the development of various districts of Kyiv, in particular, he studies the architecture of the Stalin era and the post-war reconstruction of Khreshchatyk. ​
Among his publications is the book "Architectural Guide. Kyiv. 100 Notable Buildings since 1925", which presents a selection of 100 noteworthy buildings built over the past 100 years in Kyiv.
Shyrochyn is also known for his active public stance on preserving Kyiv's architectural heritage. He has repeatedly drawn attention to the problems of preserving historical buildings and, at his own expense, restored decorative elements on the facade of his childhood home.
