He was born in the city of Sulmon, not far from Rome, and received an excellent education. Ovid is known for his sophisticated poetic skill, wealth of metaphors and stylistic diversity. His work covers various genres, including love poetry, elegies and epic works.

Among the most famous works of Ovid —"Metamorphoses", an epic poem dealing with myths and legends from the creation of the world to the deification of Julius Caesar, and"Cure for love", a poem that became a kind of guide to love behavior. Ovid ended his life in exile in the city of Tomis (modern Constanta in Romania), where he was sent by the emperor Augustus. The reasons for the exile remain a mystery, but this has not diminished the importance of his creative legacy, which continues to fascinate readers today.
