Pavlo Skoropadskyi (1873–1945)- Ukrainian statesman, military man and Hetman of the Ukrainian State (1918). After serving in the Russian army, Skoropadskyi became one of the key figures in the formation of Ukrainian statehood during the First World War and revolutionary events. In April 1918, he led a coup, becoming hetman, and proclaimed the creation of the Ukrainian State, with the aim of strengthening the economy, building an effective administration and implementing reforms. Despite the successes, his reign was short-lived, and in December 1918 the hetmanate ceased to exist.
After the defeat, Skoropadskyi emigrated to Germany, where he continued to work on Ukrainian affairs, supported cultural and educational initiatives in exile.
