Maggie Maggio is a designer, artist, and art teacher who has spent over forty years studying and working with color. Her passion for color began in high school when she received architectural magazines as a gift from her aunt. A summer spent cutting out pages and organizing them into color schemes was the beginning of her fascinating exploration of color in 2D and 3D formats.
Maggie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 1977 and her Master of Architecture degree from Syracuse University in 1988. After completing her career as an architect in 2015, she focused on teaching and researching color, creating workshops for artists and designers seeking to integrate modern scientific knowledge about color into their creative practice.
Maggio is the co-author of two books on color: Polymer Clay Color Inspirations (2009) and Universal Principles of Color (2023). She also holds positions in international organizations dedicated to advancing color education, including serving as a member of the board of directors of the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) and co-chair of the Study Group on Color Education of the International Color Association (AIC).
Maggie Maggio lives in Portland, Oregon, which she considers one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
