Francis Bacon

Francis Bacon (1561–1626) was an English philosopher, statesman, jurist, and writer, one of the founders of empiricism and the scientific method. He advocated rational knowledge and experimental investigation of nature, which laid the foundations of modern science. His works, including the New Organon and Essays or Counsels Moral and Civic, influenced the development of philosophy, politics, and law. Bacon also held high public office, including Lord Chancellor of England, but his career ended with accusations of corruption. His ideas remain influential in the fields of ethics, political philosophy, and epistemology.
