Dmytro Myron-Orlyk

Dmytro Myron, known by the pseudonym "Orlyk", was a prominent Ukrainian politician, ideologist, and theorist of Ukrainian nationalism. He was born on November 5, 1911 in Ternopil Oblast.

Myron was an active member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) from a young age, having risen from the youth center to leadership positions. He headed the youth of the regional executive of the OUN, was the editor of the "Bulletin of the OUN in the Western Ukrainian Lands" and the Regional Leader of the OUN in the Central-Eastern Ukrainian Lands. For his activities, he was repeatedly persecuted and served time in Polish prisons.

Dmytro Myron is the author of the fundamental work “The Idea and the Order of Ukraine”, which is often called “the nationalist’s alphabet”. In this book, he systematized the fundamental principles, methods and tasks of Ukrainian nationalism, which are still used for ideological training. He is also the author of “44 Rules of Life of a Ukrainian Nationalist”.

Dmytro Myron died on July 25, 1942 in Kyiv while attempting to escape from German police. His life was entirely dedicated to the struggle for an independent Ukraine, and he is considered one of the key theorists and practitioners of the Ukrainian national liberation movement.
